We believe that the wellbeing of the entire family is closely linked to the growth and development of a child with autism. When families are supported, children thrive. With this in mind, our school offers a variety of Family Support Services, including parent training, counseling, respite care, and holiday programs.
Parent–Child Training Programme:
Our Parent–Child Training Programme (PCTP) is conducted three times a year, with each session lasting around 9–12 weeks. Sessions begin in January, July, and September/October.
During the programme, a small group of parents (usually 10–15) and their children learn and practice skills together under the guidance of experienced therapists. Parents gain hands-on training in strategies that support their child’s learning and social development, which they can continue to use at home.
Home-Based Support Plans:
We provide Individualised Home Management Plans, designed jointly by parents and our therapists. Each plan focuses on:
Creating structure and routine in the home
Building learning opportunities into daily life
Supporting independence in self-care and household activities
Addressing any challenging behaviours with positive strategies
Families revisit the programme at regular intervals (usually every two weeks or more) to review progress and adapt strategies as needed.
Family Counseling:
Receiving an autism diagnosis or navigating different life stages can be overwhelming. Our family counseling services help parents and caregivers make informed, confident decisions for their child.
Counseling also provides emotional support for parents, siblings, and extended family members. Some common areas addressed include:
Adjusting to a new diagnosis
Preparing for adolescence
Supporting siblings of a child with autism
Managing stress in nuclear or joint family settings
Considering a second child:
Through professional guidance, families learn effective coping skills, explore practical solutions, and get referrals to other resources when necessary.
Weekend Respite Care:
Parenting can be demanding, and we understand that families sometimes need a break. Our Weekend Respite Programme offers children and young adults with autism a safe, enjoyable day away from home.
While parents get time for work, errands, or rest, students participate in fun and meaningful activities such as:
Cooking simple meals
Learning daily living skills
Keeping their space tidy
Outings to nearby places or restaurants:
Plans are also underway to expand this service into overnight respite support, giving families even greater flexibility and peace of mind.
